The Harvard connection: The first headmaster of Harvard, Nathaniel Eaton, moved to Virginia, married Ann Graves Cotton, a widow with a baby. The baby, Verlinda, grew up to marry Richard Boughton. Verlinda was the niece of the governor of Maryland and Richard was the secretary of state of Maryland.

Lee, I have been working on genealogy and have found two people named Booton/Boughton who were in Jamestown. Thomas and William. Thomas married once, for sure, but he was in his 40s, which make me think that may have been a second marriage. He came at age 19 in 1635. William just showed up for a few years then disappeared off the radar. A Richard Boughton married the niece of the Maryland governor in the 1660s. They were both from Virginia. He is not the father of Joshua Boughton, so there is still a missing link.
